Principal Risk Associate

Consumer Credit Risk Management (CCRM) is currently seeking a Principal Associate to provide oversight and guidance to 1 st and 2 nd line business partners to help ensure safe and sound lending practices. This role will work closely with credit associates in both 1st and 2nd line to identify and mitigate potential credit risks to Capital One. This role provides a fantastic opportunity to impact critical business processes within CCRM and the lines of business.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with Capital One lending practices, have excellent organizational and communications skills, a history of managing multiple priorities, and strong verbal and written communication skills. CCRM professionals are experienced, well-trained, and respected individuals that operate within a highly collaborative team environment to deliver value-added risk services to the organization.

The Principal Risk associate will be situated within Consumer Credit Risk Management and will:
  • Monitor critical business processes through quality assurance activities and key performance indicators to help ensure processes are operating as intended; identify and research breakdowns and recommend potential corrective action; lead change management efforts as needed
  • Work with the Credit Policy Management team to ensure continued alignment between critical business tools and systems with current credit policy
  • Manage multiple tasks independently to meet deadlines
  • Coordinate work between multiple areas and working on multiple projects simultaneously; leveraging / influencing business partners to drive results
  • Initiate and execute process improvements leveraging other team members when appropriate
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed



Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in credit risk management, risk management or audit
  • At least 2 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients


Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 4 years of experience in credit risk management, risk management or audit
  • At least 1 year of experience in analysis
  • At least 1 year of experience in Process Management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
