Duties

To ensure compliance with an applicable preliminary nationwide injunction, which may be supplemented, modified, or vacated, depending on the course of ongoing litigation, the Federal Government will take no action to implement or enforce the COVID-19 vaccination requirement pursuant to Executive Order 14043 on Requiring Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination for Federal Employees. As a Health Systems Specialist, at the full performance level you will perform the following duties:
  • Consult, plan, direct, analyze and coordinate administrative activities, and advise leadership on matters pertaining to credentials and privileging actions of independent health care providers, and health care employees;
  • Manage the credentialing and privileging functions for appointment, reappointment, advancement, and change in status of appointment processes for Licensed Independent Providers;
  • Provide technical assistance and support to Health Services Administrators and medical staffing contractors to ensure proper verification, submission and maintenance of credentials;
  • Verify/validate employment experience, education, licensure, residency and other training, specialty board certification or current eligibility, and other information, and conduct various background checks from a wide variety of sources; and
  • Liaison with DHS Office of Health Affairs (OHA) to maintain compliance with applicable guidelines, integrate data, and work with a centralized credentialing system, applying specialized knowledge of basic principles and practices related to the management of health care delivery systems.

  • Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.


Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one of the following:

Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
  • Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems;
  • Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and
  • Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. OR
Education : Substitution of Education for Experience: Successful completion of a doctoral degree, 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, such as a L.L.M./Ph.D. degree. This education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university and demonstrate the skills necessary to do the work of the position (qualifying major studies include hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration). OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.
