Payroll Applications & Data Analyst The George Mason University, Payroll Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Payroll Applications & Data Analyst.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Works with the functional areas to understand business processes and then helps users become more efficient and effective in using Banner and associated systems;Assists in resolving technical issues that may arise within Banner and other related Payroll systems;Assists with the creation and maintenance of documentation of Payroll processes, including training manual to be used by employees for Payroll transactions;Fulfills Payroll report requests by evaluating incoming requests against existing canned reports, enhancements to existing reports, or development of new reports;Creates standard and complex queries against Oracle, Banner forms, and all respective inclusive structures;Develops effective and efficient solutions for end-user data extracts used for decision-making;Acts as departmental liaison with the Fiscal Service Project Team. In this role, assists with various project management activities which includes collecting user requirements, writing functional specifications; and testing end-to-end solutions in partnership with the end-user community; andWorks collaboratively with IT staff and other departments to establish test and production schedules for the implementation of system enhancements.Required Qualifications:An undergraduate degree, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience;Experience working with project management and system development lifecycles, including testing of system releases, patches, and upgrades;Ability to understand complex relational database designs;Demonstrates a combination of systems, data, and business analysis skills; andAbility to communicate with both technical and non-technical staff clearly.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with Ellucian Banner or similar ERP;Experience working with data related to Human Resources and/or Payroll; andBA computer information systems preferred.
