Performs a variety of highly skilled tasks in the maintenance of three-phase industrial electrical equipment up to 4160 volts, including circuits and other related electrical equipment in the Wastewater Pumping Stations. Performs preventive/corrective maintenance, 24/7 to maintain continuous operation of electrical equipment. Provides daily input to Industrial Electrician Supervisor regarding performance of Electrician I's & II's. Identifies required parts from equipment diagram or parts lists and requisitions necessary parts to restock repair or replace all electrical equipment throughout the pumping stations. Assists in the reviews of as built drawings for identification and isolation of lines, equipment. Utilizes computer and software to maintain work orders, requisition parts, for preventive and corrective maintenance, online time and attendance, training, and MS Outlook. Installs and programs variable frequency drives. Performs work on systems with hazardous chemicals that are acidic, highly corrosive, heat producing and potentially explosive. Performs work in permit confined spaces, hazardous areas that require respiratory protection and personal protective gear, slippery and wet conditions. Attends required electrical training to ensure work performed. Complies with the regulatory requirements, national electric code and BOCA. Employee performs diagnostic work up to the Programmable Controllers (PLC) and Digital Control System (DCS). Performs other electrical work as requested. In the absence of supervisor oversees the daily operation of the electrical section including oversight of the Industrial Electrician I's & II's.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, or a GED issued by a state department of education or equivalent and six years of experience as an industrial electrician.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a pre-employment physical and annual thereafter, a criminal background check, and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
Subject to 24 hour call back and must, therefore, be able to work emergency overtime. Subject to working in adverse weather conditions and may be exposed to raw waste or environments generating methane gas. Ability to distinguish different color wiring.
All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. Able to lift 50 pounds; drive 1/2, 3/4 & 1 ton utility truck and operate hoisting equipment; stooping and extended standing. Frequent exposure to loud noises and rare exposure to airborne substances, routine climbing. Ability to distinguish colors. Has to enter confined spaces w/weight restriction of 310 pounds. - Complies with DPWES Safety Competencies.
- Is subject to 24-hour on-call and may be required to report to work during extreme inclement weather or other emergencies, including after-hours and weekend work during emergency incidents to fulfill emergency service duties. The appointee(s) must make every reasonable effort to be accessible for communication. During unscheduled leave or administrative leave declarations by the County Executive, emergency service personnel are required to report for work. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action.

- Troubleshoots the most complex high voltage equipment, control and power system failures to determine the cause and corrective action required;
- Performs inspections of power distribution centers, motor control centers and other electrical control panels and equipment;
- Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems and equipment up to 5000 volts and 4000 amps;
- Makes necessary repairs and replacements, and tests effectiveness of corrective action;
- Troubleshoots, repairs and/or installs main switchboards, main and branch circuits breakers, disconnects and wiring devices such as switches, convenience receptacles and dedicated receptacles, possibly without the aid of a blueprint or schematic because of equipment age;
- Leads and performs major or complex installations and repair projects;
- Performs predictive and preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturer recommendations on electrical equipment;
- Utilizes computerized maintenance management and/or Enterprise Asset Management system to maintain records of work required, work performed, work hours and repair parts and materials used;
- Utilizes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems to troubleshoot electrical problems;
- Utilizes Variable Frequency Drives and Programmable Logic Controllers to troubleshoot and make repairs;
- Plans, assigns and oversees the work of more junior industrial electricians as well as daily
- training of the less experienced industrial electricians and provides input to supervisor for performance appraisals;
- Responsible for compliance with safety standards and regulations on the assigned shift and work station;
- Maintains records and inventory of repair and replacement parts and supplies to ensure availability of parts to minimize down-time of equipment;
- Effectively communicates with customers, employees and supervisors;
- Engages in safe working practices and complies with safety programs and guidelines;
- Reports and monitors unsafe working conditions;
- Complies with safety competencies.
