AARP's Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) Group includes Membership, Content and Editorial, Customer Experience, External Relations, Brand Strategy and Strategic Communications. Across paid, earned, shared and owned channels, ICM manages AARP's reputation, drives engagement and member growth, and showcases AARP's mission and value through one, integrated voice.

The Member Benefit Engagement & Communications Manager develops and implements marketing campaigns, and communications materials to ensure members are aware of and engage with their benefits throughout the membership lifecycle. Ensures own print and digital projects are consistent and aligned with overall marketing strategies and adjacent ongoing projects. Supports a/b testing in the Membership & Benefits Channel. Utilizes data-driven decision making. Tracks and assesses results and adjusts strategies and plans to meet changing markets and competitive conditions. Continuously identifies opportunities to optimize campaigns and marketing processes to support the business unit/department.

Responsibilities

  • Supports internal and/or external teams and clients by creating proposals, presentations, and other materials using product/program information, data, and media insights. Assists with planning, creation, and execution of various strategic marketing communications.
  • Consults and collaborates with cross-functional teams, colleagues, and leadership to ensure the effective and timely execution and management of assigned programs or campaigns.
  • Monitors the competitive landscape and market trends to identify new opportunities for the organization to shape products, programs, and/or services most relevant to the target audience.
  • Provides guidance on marketing best practices and campaign strategies to colleagues and/or external partners, as necessary. Advises campaign stakeholders about next steps, opportunities, and risks based on best practices and lessons learned.
  • Monitors, reviews, and measures campaign performance, proactively communicating and elevating lessons learned to key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of the target audience(s), their unique wants, needs, and perceptions, and how they engage with the organization in order to execute strategies that deliver most relevant offerings and communications to consumers in the channel of their choice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 6+ years of marketing experience required.
  • Strong project management, planning and attention to detail. Must be knowledgeable of general direct marketing principles.
  • Experience with direct mail programs and launching pilot programs using multiple channels. Experience with direct-response and data driven marketing campaigns.
  • Experience in working in a large, complex organization. Strong interpersonal, influence and negotiating skills. Excellent business judgment and ability to recognize business implications of data.
  • Excellent oral/written presentation skills; proficiency in preparation and presentation of proposals, analytical reports, and documents regarding programs' operational status, achievement and performance.
  • Must be able to work independently and to manage projects in a timely manner.
  • Experience working within a matrixed organization where success was dependent on influence if not direct control.
  • Experienced in operational details of campaign management, e.g. data & technical requirements, reporting processes etc.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
