Our client in the non-profit industry is seeking an Accounting (AP/AR) Specialist to support the accounting and financial services regions. The Accounting (AP/AR) Specialist will process deposits and set up batches in the association management system. Candidates must be able to:
- Process lockbox transactions, prepare electronic batches, update lockbox reconciliations, manage billing and collection processes and posting cash receipts
- Create daily personify deferred and direct payment batches based on lockbox receipts
- Create personify deferred and direct payment batches based on live checks received
- Backup for office manager when manager is out of the office including:
- Processing mail delivery, distributing it to appropriate staff mailboxes
- Transporting incoming and outgoing materials, lifting 25-40 lbs
- Exercises fiscal responsibility
- Works cooperatively and diplomatically with all divisions and regions
Qualifications:
- Associates degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or comparable experience
- Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience with accrual accounting, journal entries, payables, receivables, and reconciliations, and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training required
- Experience working with a global non-profit organization and/or association is highly preferred
- A demonstrated interest in advancing education in the not-for-profit sector
- A strong commitment to contributing to an organizational culture that celebrates diversity and inclusion
- An understanding of and interest in engaging with a broad range of cultures and countries Must have technical proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency is required.
- Must have technical knowledge of integrated accounting and financial management, reporting and budgeting systems and association management systems
- Drive, ability to work in a fast-paced accounting department, and strong project management skills that ensure ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to work independently and collaboratively and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to lead and participate on teams
- A pro-active and can-do attitude, even when working under pressure and with all levels of staff
- Experience in an international environment desired
- Education-related experience a plus
- Must have a strong customer service orientation
