We are lucky enough to assist the Smithsonian in DC with staffing nurse opening in many of the museum's in DC. Currently they have a vacancy in the African American museum. They are looking for a LPN who can do clinical"s as well assist on the administrative side scheduling appointments.

This is a great opportunity to work with a dynamic team of people.

This is a long term contract position.

Monday through Friday 7.30 to 4.30

$37.00 per hour.

Will need to have either a LPN License from DC, MD or VA license

The contractor shall provide Licensed Practice Nursing services for eligible staff of the Smithsonian Institution in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area at the call of the Director, OSHEM or Associate Director OHS, to conduct occupational health and first aid services .

The contractor shall provide LPN services to assist OHS with the following:
A. Prepare the OHS Clinics for the daily exams by having the necessary forms, clipboards, folders, equipment and supplies prepared, tested and available.
B. Under supervision of a registered or advanced practice nurse or physician, and using a standardized template or form, gather and document occupational and environmental health histories and employees' statements of injuries and/or symptoms of illnesses and appropriately refer workers for further evaluation
C. Under supervision by a registered or advanced practice nurse or physician, and with appropriate training and certifications, may clean and dress wounds, administer first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
D. Under supervision by a registered or advanced practice nurse or physician, and with appropriate training, may secure informed consent for and administer adult vaccinations
E. Under supervision of a registered or advanced practice nurse or physician, and with appropriate training and certifications, may conduct workplace health screenings, including
a. Measuring height, weight, heart rate, respirations, temperature, and blood pressure
b. Hearing screenings to meet OSHA requirements
c. Pulmonary function screening to meet the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) requirements
d. Breath alcohol screening for Department of Transportation (DOT) and non-DOT purposes
e. Collecting urine specimens for DOT and non-DOT drug testing
f. Blood glucose screening
g. Administering purified protein derivative (PPD) for tuberculosis (TB) skin testing
h. Near, distant, and color vision screening
F. Responsible for conducting inventory of supplies and monthly ordering to replace supplies.
G. Checking equipment, vaccine refrigerator, batteries, expiration dates
H. Ensuring that Emergency/First Aid Bag is fully stocked and all equipment is functional.
I. Answering the telephones appropriately including scheduling appointments in the electronic scheduling system.
J. Administrative duties such as scanning and data entry into the electronic medical record.
K. Quality assurance activities to check or audit medical records for purposes of accurate reports
