Strategy Consulting Associate - February 2024

Key Role Details
  • Full-time new hires for this role will start as a cohort with other Strategy Consulting associates in February 2024.
  • This role is a full-time associate position within the Strategy Consulting organization at Capital One, designed as a career accelerator to build transferable problem solving and leadership skills to foster the next generation of leading talent.
  • Associates work on small, 4-7 person teams supporting senior leaders across Capital One on critical issues for our business, with projects and teams rotating on a quarterly basis.
  • Strategy Consulting associates will have the opportunity to rotate into another line of business for one project cycle to experience another role / team in their second year.
  • Associates who join the Strategy team will participate in Capital One's larger Analyst Development Program, which provides even more opportunities for professional development and interaction with associates from diverse backgrounds across the enterprise.

Basic Qualifications
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelors or higher with an expectation that degree will be obtained by December 2023 or earlier.


Strategy Consulting Associate - 2024

The Strategy Group has played a central role in transforming Capital One from a small startup in 1994 to one of the largest financial institutions in the country. The group is accountable to the founder / CEO and functions as an internal strategy consultancy, partnering with company leadership to solve the industry's toughest challenges, do research and analysis to understand where the company needs to win in the future, and develop delightful products and experiences for our millions of customers.

Strategy Consulting Associates have an exciting opportunity to:
  • Develop world-class consulting skills to shape the direction of one of the largest companies in the U.S.
  • Work collaboratively on small project teams, taking on company-defining strategic issues and directly partnering with the company's CEO and senior executives
  • Work with and learn from experienced consultants and develop a deep understanding of technology, the financial services industry, and a variety of business functions
  • Own and drive critical workstreams on projects that last 3-4 months
  • Advance critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and leadership skills in an inclusive environment dedicated to professional development
  • Leverage the expertise of team members from a variety of professional backgrounds, including management consulting, financial services, and entrepreneurship
  • Rotate to another division within Capital One during your first two years, getting exposure to a new area of interest (e.g., UX design within a product management pod, new product development, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging in human resources), a skill you are looking to craft (e.g., digital marketing, product management) or a personal passion of yours (e.g., driving work in our community impact & investment organization)
