Senior Manager, Project Management: Chief of Staff (Customer Channels)

As a Senior Manager, Project Management: Chief Of Staff (Customer Channels) People Leader at Capital One, you will report directly to the Director of Customer Channels Chief of Staff and will collaborate with our key partners in HR and Communications to drive strategy and execute on high priority people initiatives for the Customer Channels organization. You will work with smart and passionate people delivering impactful results that support customer channels associates in the areas of engagement, recognition, social mobility while focusing on creating a diverse and inclusive culture. Chief of Staff team provides the opportunity for:
  • Developing a deep understanding of the business strategy including an understanding of Customer Channels people initiatives
  • Interaction and ability to influence leadership and key partners across the Customer Channels organization
  • Collaboration and developing relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Leadership of key culture and engagement programs, initiatives, and associates
  • Leadership of strategic initiatives

  • Ability to maintain strategic mindset, while providing excellent attention to detail to ensure seamless execution across multiple priorities, programs, and initiatives


Responsibilities Include:

  • Strategy support: Partner closely with the CoS (Chief of Staff) team and key leadership team members to help inform and support strategic planning, priority setting, and leadership team alignment around business goals and strategic people priorities
  • People/Culture: Provide thought leadership and partner closely with the Director CoS, HR, Communications, and our Culture and Engagement teams to assist in shaping and executing the business culture agenda
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Facilitate the creation of presentations that articulate the strategy and results of the CoS Team
  • Communications: Ensure alignment across the organization through strategically designed updates around strategic people initiatives and progress, in partnership with the Director CoS and communications team


General Responsibilities:
  • Leading moderate to large complex projects and programs by providing strategic direction to projects, peers, and direct reports
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of excellent project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work in a dynamic complex environment
  • Designing, developing, and managing project plans in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements
  • Ensuring projects are being documented appropriately to mitigate risk and to be delivered on time
  • Leveraging problem solving and influencing skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent
  • Partnering cross-functionally with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery
  • Building relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments
  • Leading a team of project managers
  • Exhibit outstanding influencing skills to effectively drive project / program efforts
  • Display a passion for coaching and developing a team of associates through their leadership style
  • Have excellent communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders at all levels across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomes


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 7 years of experience in People Management
  • At least 7 years of experience in Project Management
  • At least 7 years of experience delivering large scale transformational people initiatives while supporting organizational change
  • At least 5 years of experience in Strategic planning


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Business or Business Administration (MBA)
  • At least 7 years of experience writing communications and presentations for leadership
  • At least 9 years experience in People Management
  • At least 9 years of experience delivering large scale transformational people initiatives while supporting organizational change
