Event Services Operations Supervisor The George Mason University Student Centers seeks applications for the Event Services Operations Supervisor position. This position will work on the Fairfax Campus and report to the Assistant Director for Event Services Operations, Student Centers.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:The Event Services Operations Supervisor will oversee all event operations occurring on shift and is responsible for ensuring proper staff and resources are assigned and scheduled for upcoming shifts;Responsible for supervision and performance evaluation of student employees designated on their shift;This position will work closely with Assistant Director and team to ensure all needed event information is known in advance so shifts can be properly scheduled and supported;Responsible for ensuring shift schedules are filled in timely manner;Responsible for direct supervision of assigned staff and will assist in the oversite, maintenance and upkeep of Student Centers' facilities and resources; andThe Event Services Operations Supervisor will collaborate with the Assistant Director of Event Operations and contribute to regular planning in regards to upcoming events, challenges, direction of area, standards/best practices, personnel issues and resource/facility needs as appropriate and assist with emergency preparations and planning and execution; during emergencies - direct customers to exits and secure the facilities.Required Qualifications:High school diploma/GED;Valid Driver's License with ability to drive/operate state vehicles; must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/. The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver's licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review;Experience working in all areas of event operations/support including experience planning and implementing events;Experience creating and implementing training programs for event staff;Experience supervising, scheduling, and managing staff;Knowledgeable in all areas of event operations and event support technology to include sound, lighting and video (setup, configuration, and operation);Knowledge of basic accounting principles, billing software, and event planning;Ability to effectively recruit, train, and supervise full-time, part-time, and student wage staff;Ability to meet competing deadlines, use good judgement, and work independently to prioritize responsibilities; andSkill in effective communication; ability to communicate respectfully with staff, patrons, and colleagues at all times.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree.
