Job Summary:
Westat is seeking a lead Research Operations Associate with technical and management skills necessary to plan, manage and report on data operations, and perform data editing activities. This is a full time position with some flexibility for hybrid work depending upon specific assignments.
Job Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with technical and project staff as well as Westat's client to plan for and implement data operations and data cleaning for survey research projects using common tools such as SQL, Blaise and Voxco.
• Participate in project leadership team to perform data editing, programming in support of data editing and harmonization tasks, frequency preparation and data review.
• Ability to plan survey logistics and technical reporting for staffing allocations across 7 day week and multiple, overlapping shifts.
• Develop reports that support the minimization of staff overtime and avoid staffing shortages for callouts.
• Develop detailed knowledge of programmed survey instruments, the collected data, and metadata for a variety of studies.
• Manage teams of staff as assigned and perform/oversee quality control.
• Write technical specifications for systems, programs, data files, analytic variables, and reports.
• Manage survey testing and data review, editing, and coding operations.
• Prepare, document, and perform quality control checks of file sets delivered to Westat's clients.
Basic Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent years of combined college and professional experience in management, logistics, and reporting.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience including staff management, budgeting labor, and work with data/reporting.
• At least 2 years of programming experience with reporting software, SQL and survey products.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Hands on technical skills in programming.
• Strong business and technical writing skills.
• Experience managing data operations.
• Experience managing staff and logistics.
• Experience planning shift work across 7 day week.
Other Required Qualifications:
• A demonstrated skill in data operations and data management.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Strong quantitative aptitude or experience.
