Communications CoordinatorThe George Mason University, College of Education and Human Development (CEHD), invites applications for a Communications Coordinator position, to manage internal and external college-level and school-level communications initiatives. This is a full-time classified staff position reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Specific responsibilities of this position include:Managing content and posting for flagship CEHD social media accounts for the purpose of recruitment and outreach;Communicating with faculty and staff about their news requests, and serving as the central knowledge base for internal and external announcements;Liaising with central university communications staff to share content that is relevant for other university channels;Monitoring CEHD earned media coverage;Determining appropriate channel plan for each piece of CEHD news according to CEHD communications strategy developed by the Director of Communications;Tracking all communications projects and providing direction to freelance and wage employees to ensure on-time delivery of all communications assets, including photos, videos, and written pieces;Managing internal CEHD communications channels, including web-based content hub, bi-weekly email newsletters, and listservs; andManaging content for, and deployment of, CEHD recruitment email communications plans through Salesforce/TargetX CRM; andOccasional evening/weekend activities may be required due to the nature of this position's oversight of social media channels.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience;Experience executing communication strategies across multiple platforms; experience managing complex projects with many stakeholders; demonstrated success in engaging audiences using social media, and a deep understanding of social media and newsletter best practices;Knowledge of marketing and communications fundamentals, including communication strategies across multiple platforms;Deep understanding of social media and newsletter best practices;Specific software skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Mailchimp;Demonstrated project management skills, and experience managing complex projects with many stakeholders;Demonstrated skill in written and oral communication; andAbility to work with a team, organize information, be a self-starter, and take responsibility.Preferred Qualifications:Ability to analyze data and use it to make strategic decisions about content and engagement;Experience in Higher Ed communications; andExperience with customer relationship management systems such as Salesforce.
