The Washington Post is looking for a Senior Production Engineer to oversee the production and A/V for our Live Center and control rooms used for internal and public-facing events.

The Washington Post is looking for a Senior Production Engineer to oversee the production and A/V for our Live Center and control rooms used for internal and public-facing events.
This role is based in our Washington, D.C. Live Center.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and internally staff the A/V production of all events in The Washington Post Live Center, such as town halls, meet-ups, leadership development workshops, cultural events, etc
- Maintain the control room and event space for The Washington Post Live Center, ensuring high quality equipment condition and accessibility
- Create and maintain SOPs, guides, inventory and maintenance schedules
- Recommend scope and technical capacity requirements for events and determine and implement appropriate production needs per event, leading communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Make suggestions and recommendations to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and overall quality within the A/V operations
- Consult and ideate with the event teams and executives for future enhancements for the live event experience
- Test and ensure preparedness of broadcast systems prior to scheduled use
- Fill-in production positions as needed on live events (TD, A1, A2, PTZ Op, Lighting Board Op)
Additional Duties Include:
- Technical direct/operate NewTek Tri-caster switcher and direct productions as needed
- Coordinate with vendors as related to external A/V production, manufacturing, and installation companies
- Set up, trouble-shoot and operate all Live Center A/V and production equipment with assistance from internal and external crew
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of necessary equipment on an event-by-event basis
- Assist with virtual programs as needed (Remote guest manager, TD)
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience overseeing live A/V productions
- Understanding of broadcast signal flow, live streaming and encoding
- 5+ years of live production experience in a specialized role
- A good working knowledge of current A/V standards and equipment such as Dante, codecs, file formats, video standards, NewTek Tri-Casters and familiarity with NDI Tools
- Experience using Crestron systems and video routers
- Strong analytical and proven technical problem-solving skills, along with the ability to convey decision making to senior managers and customers
- Network understanding including but not limited to IP camera technologies
- The ability to problem-solve in fast paced and high-pressure situations
- The ability to work alone and in a collaborative environment
- The flexibility to work evenings and weekends, based on event schedules
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
