Account Clerk II (Grants Support Assistant)

Hourly – Contingent I

Office of Finance & Accounting

Full-Time, Non-Exempt

 The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Grants Support Assistant to join the Office of Finance & Accounting.  One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, Economist and the Wall Street Journal.  

Under general supervision, performs moderately complex accounting clerical or bookkeeping tasks to support accounts payable/receivable, payroll, timekeeping, auditing and/or other accounting functions. Post journal entries, processes payments, and verifies accuracy of data.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED with 1 year of accounting experience. College-level courses preferred. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience, and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Service-oriented attitude and demeanor; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to interact effectively with internal and external parties in a courteous and efficient manner; ability to work with Central ORA and PIs, proactively identifying problems and solutions, and with a can-do, collaborative approach.

This is an hourly contract ($16.30 to $20.38) per hour based on experience and qualifications) with health insurance available through direct pay.
