Instructional Designer
Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The instructional Designer (ID) in Maryland Applied Graduate Engineering works collaboratively with faculty and staff to develop and facilitate online, blended, web enhanced and flipped courses for graduate programs. The ID will design and deliver training on educational technology used within the institution including LMS, lecture capture, synchronous tools, plagiarism detection tools, and the institution’s proprietary content management system. This position will provide faculty and administrators with one-on-one instructional design assistance including building experiential learning opportunities in conjunction with external business partners.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience in education, instructional material or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in instructional design or related work experience.
• Experience with course design software such as Articulate, Storyline, Captivate and/or Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience in designing authentic assessments and engaging course content.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of learning management systems, such as Canvas
Preferences:
• Master’s degree in instructional design, distance education, or instructional technology.
• Familiarity with engineering disciplines.
• Experience working in the field of Higher Education.
• Knowledge of instructional software such as TurningPoint, Respondus, Panopto, etc.
• Ability to foster faculty enthusiasm for and engagement in the use of innovative technologies for teaching.
• Extremely well versed in application of design methodologies including but not limited to: backward design, e-learning blueprint, design thinking, and interactive learning experiences.
• Highly proficient computer skills to include MS Office Suite and learning management systems.
• Ability to be creative, flexible, and innovative in course design.
• Ability to provide instructional, curriculum and technical design consulting services to subject matter experts (faculty).
• Experience in collaborating with teams and clients to manage expectations.
• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, superior organizational skills, self- direction, and motivation a must.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, work independently, and meet strict deadlines.
• Proficient in HTML, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere, Camtasia, and Final Cut Pro.
Physical Demands:
Sedentary work. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Ability to work adjustable hours as necessary – some early mornings and late evenings will be required. Must be able to maneuver around the campus to attend meetings.

Salary: The salary range for this position is $69,600 to $87,000 annually.
