Program Assistant, LECThe George Mason University Law & Economics Center (LEC) is searching for a Program Assistant. About the Department:The mission of the Law & Economics Center is to serve as a nexus for research and education focused on economic analysis of the legal and public policy issues confronting policymakers. Since its inception in 1974, the LEC has recognized the importance of timely, relevant research on public policy matters, as well as the need to communicate research findings to those who shape policy decisions. The LEC is committed to developing original, high-quality law and economics research and education programs that enhance economic understanding and provide a consistent, rational voice that bolsters today's policy discussions.Responsibilities:The Program Assistant will be responsible for supporting the LEC by managing educational programs for academics, lawyers, government authorities and staff members, judges, and attorneys general and their senior staff. Working closely with all LEC Program Managers and Program Assistants, the LEC Program Assistant will recruit to attract attendees, market LEC educational programs, manage program registration and databases, act as primary contact for assigned programs, manage event timelines and task lists, prepare content for websites and marketing materials, create and manage the LEC's social media presence, prepare event materials, provide on-site program management including webinars, manage program close out and reporting, and provide regular reports on assigned activities and events. The Program Assistant will act as regular and back up support to all LEC Program Managers and Program Assistants.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of the judiciary and political institutions in the United States and also possess knowledge of timely topics in the field of economics and the law. The ideal candidate will also be self-motivated, detail-oriented, accuracy-driven, possess excellent organizational skills, and have the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively. Must possess a professional demeanor with demonstrated, effective written and oral communication skills, and have the ability to interact with high-level professionals. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office products and their capabilities. Must be able to work some flexible hours (early mornings and evenings) and some weekends, and must be available for travel domestically and internationally.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in political science, economics, public policy, or similar discipline is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience; andExperience working with Microsoft Office Suite.Preferred Qualifications:Experience (generally 3+ months) using Cvent or similar event management system;Prior experience (generally 1+ cumulative year(s)) of work experience in the use of Excel to report and analyze data;Experience (generally 3+ months) with the use of social media for marketing purposes;Familiarity and experience with data analytics;Demonstrated knowledge of the structure of the United States legal system; andKnowledge of basic financial transactions and how to follow the flow of financial reimbursements through an organization's system.
