Overview

Older Adults Technology Services from AARP (OATS) advocates for technology inclusion for the 50-plus, providing digital literacy training and programming to older adults. With nearly two decades of experience and insights on how older people interact with technology as well as its flagship programs like Senior Planet, OATS uses its resources to create world-class programs that form the basis for systems change.

As the Development Manager for OATS, you will engage in work associated with fundraising campaigns for the organization; design and implement organization-wide donor relations and the stewardship system to promote interaction with and recognition of donors at all levels. You will also collaborate with management to identify opportunities to streamline fundraising processes and develop new procedures that support the business unit/department. You will join a passionate team committed to harnessing the power of technology to change the way we age.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the identification, cultivation, solicitation and/or stewardship of the donors and prospective donors assigned within their respective donor/prospect pool or fundraising channel.
  • Participates in the effort to establish an effective case for support (value proposition) and provides feedback on how it resonates with their respective assigned prospective donor pool.
  • Manages aspects of the fundraising process (e.g., identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, systems/processing, stewardship) within their respective donor/prospect pool or function.
  • Manages appropriate resources and processes to help ensure personal and departmental success in meeting organizational and personal objectives and goals.
  • Achieves fundraising goals and expectations as defined.
  • Performs duties in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and board policies (e.g., gift acceptance) pertaining to gifts, contributions, grants and other charitable support raised.
  • Adheres to ethical standards established by Association of Fundraising Professionals and National Association of Charitable Gift Planners.

Qualifications

  • Minimum four years prior fundraising or donor management experience
  • A cover letter is required to be considered for this position
  • Experience in CRM database management such as Blackbaud, Salesforce or similar
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative analysis preferred
  • Ability to work in a collaborative matrixed environment
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office systems including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

For this position we anticipate offering a salary between $86,000 - $95,000 per year. This role is also eligible to participate in an annual incentive plan with a percentage up to 12%. Bonus eligibility is dependent upon organizational and individual performance.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
