Program AssistantThe George Mason University, College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) Dean's Office, seeks a part time (20 hours per week) motivated and engaged team member with outstanding organizational and communication skills for a newly created Program Assistant wage position. This position will report to the Associate Dean for Research and perform administrative tasks related to CHSS faculty research, scholarship, and creative works. This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule (in-office and remote), but remote-only will not be considered.Responsibilities:Provide administrative support for internal funding and limited submission reviews;Organize and track information of internal funding over time, and follow-up with awardees, manage file and documents, and prepare summary reports;Provide administrative support for college-chartered research center reviews, correspondence, file and document management, reports and follow-up;Provide administrative support for in-person and virtual events related to CHSS research, scholarship, and creative works;Assist with CHSS research website updates;Provide administrative support for purchases, process payments, and maintain documents for fiscal and reconciliation purposes;Provide scheduling support for meetings and manage the calendar of the Associate Dean for Research; andProvide other support as needed in coordination with colleagues within the Dean's Office and across the university.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;Proven attention to detail;Experience working in a collegial and team environment;Prior experience in taking initiative and completing projects and/or assignments with minimal supervision; andExcellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Zoom) and willingness to learn new software and systems.Preferred Qualifications:Interest in the humanities and social sciences;Experience analyzing data and/or creating summary reports;Writing and/or editing experience;Higher education work experience;An understanding of external funding and research support programs;Experience with Banner and MicroStrategy reports, SharePoint, and/or survey software, such as Qualtrics or SurveyMonkey; andExperience with collaborative tools, such as MS Teams, Blackboard, and/or Office365.About the College of Humanities and Social Sciences:The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) is at the very center of the university's mission to serve as a hub of intellectual dynamism and diversity, a locus of local and global civic engagement, and an access point to excellence for individuals of all backgrounds.
