WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E4/SPC - E5/SGT), currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E4/SPC - E5/SGT), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
Military Grades: Enlisted Member: E4/SPC - E5/SGT
GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Applicant must have experience, education or training that provided knowledge of general office work which may include but is not limited to answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records; experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work; experience establishing and retrieving files and information, and experience using common computer software designed for word processing.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-06 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
Experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws. Experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions. Experience performing personnel transactions. Experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control.

As a Human Resources Assistant (Military), GS-0203-07, you will perform the below duties:
- Processes a wide range of human resources transactions related to recruitment and placement, classification, employee relations, human resource development, and/or incentive awards. These duties require a technical understanding and knowledge of numerous human resources guidelines, directives, procedures, policies, and precedent situations, which involve analyzing the interrelationships and impact that various personnel actions, in different functional areas, may have on technician personnel.
- Provides technical assistance in the area of recruitment and placement. Participates in the execution of the merit placement/promotion program. Advises and provides procedural and technical guidance to managers, supervisors, and applicants on recruitment and placement, qualification requirements, merit promotion procedures, transfers, eligibility determinations, methods of recruitment, and initial employment.
- Assists classification specialist by performing job audits and making classification determinations on a variety of clerical, and technical occupations (GS-07 and below) and Wage Grade occupations where standards clearly apply. Develops position descriptions for restructuring purposes, and prepares amendments and statements of differences.
- Provides technical assistance in executing the employee relations program. Provides specific advice and guidance to supervisors, managers and employees on a variety of employee relation's matters, to include resolving minor employee problems.
- Provides assistance to the Human Resources Development Specialist.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
