Front End Developer

Job Summary:
Westat is seeking a Front End Developer to develop and support applications used by our large research projects. You will use proven and cutting-edge technologies in a project-driven team environment. We are always looking to improve our development practice and technology solutions, through innovation, resourcefulness, and teamwork.

Job Responsibilities:

• As part of a project team, design and program software solutions, primarily using JavaScript component libraries and frameworks with CSS and HTML.
• Develop clean, functional code.
• Developing new technical approaches and capabilities to incorporate into systems as appropriate.
• Test software to ensure reliability and robustness.

Basic Qualifications:

• Typically requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, information technology or quantitative field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of experience or equivalent coursework in JavaScript.
• U.S. Citizenship required by contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of JavaScript libraries or frameworks such as Vue or React.
• Knowledge of database technologies such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of server-side languages such as Node.
• Knowledge of web design principles, user experience, web standards/practices and usability are a plus.
• Excellent planning, analytical, and decision-making skills.
