The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) is seeking a Financial Support Assistant to be a part of one of the most highly regarded park systems in the country. With more than 25,000 acres of parkland, nine RECenters, eight golf courses, three lakefront parks, and more, FCPA is an exciting organization to be a part of and there are many opportunities for staff to make a difference at every level.
Under general supervision of the Revenue Operations Manager, performs general financial duties including fiscal administration of revenue management. Responsible for compiling and reviewing cash reports generated by revenue sites within the Fairfax County Park Authority. Performs a variety of substantial clerical-accounting functions such as preparing journal entries, management and process of bank deposits, research and adjustment of bank exceptions, management of change funds for site locations, preparation of monthly tax returns, site consignment and one-time vendor payments. Serves as point of contact from the financial team for Point-of-Sale systems guidance to sites. Maintains physical and digital files. Other duties as assigned to support the financial management branch and provide financial administrative support.
The assigned functional areas of this position are accounting, accounts receivable, and financial support.

General Financial Duties
Uses existing spreadsheets and databases to interpret and organize resource information;
Provides customized reports to analysts or others in the unit.
Fiscal Administration
Monitors external accounts and resolves discrepancies;
Accounting
Resolves problems by performing qualitative review of individual cases;
Enters data into corporate accounting systems and reconciles a wide variety of accounts receivable/payable;
Communication
Coordinates data collection and provides information to others including executive/work unit head;
Explains policies of the functional area (e.g., purchasing, travel, and leave).
Office Management
Performs/supervises several administrative functions (e.g., records management, reception);
General Administrative
Develops filing systems (paper and/or electronic);
Develops internal mailing processes and procedures;
Prepares non-routine responses to correspondence;
May supervise general administrative functions.
Information Systems/Software
Generates unique reports;
Creates complex spreadsheets for work unit;
Reports
Prepares routine reports and statistics based on information compiled from various sources;
Determines report format and elements.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and three years of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred an associate degree in accounting, business, information systems, or a related field.
- Full-time experience utilizing financial ERP systems
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial concepts
- Must have attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a team environment.
- Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
- Must have the ability to interact in a friendly, service-oriented, and professional manner with internal and external customers.
- Knowledge and experience in general financial administration, accounts receivable, and record/file management.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software and intermediate knowledge of Excel functions
- Ability to adapt to various systems and system modifications.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, and child protective services registry check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Duties are generally sedentary, performed in a normal office environment. Sedentary with walking and lifting less than five pounds. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
