Job Announcement

Works as part of the Supportive Community Residential Services (SCRS.) Manages services within a Residential Intensive Care (RIC) program. RIC Central is a community-based program providing twelve hours of daily support to male and female adults living in four homes in the community in the Annandale area of Fairfax County. This clinical team is highly collaborative and works independently while utilizing supervision appropriately and effectively. We are seeking a candidate experienced with serving adults with co-occurring serious mental illness, substance abuse, and physical health disorders, and the ability to coach new staff in the use of evidence based and best practices. Partnering with the program manager, the supervisor position also monitors program compliance with licensure, third party payers, and other stakeholder expectations and requirements. Working under the Behavioral Health Supervisor is a dynamic team of Behavioral Health Specialists and relief staff, and the team partners with an on-site LPN and a team psychiatrist. As a member of the management team structure, program supervisors are included in the management team structure and decision-making. Additionally, SCRS supervisors enjoy additional monthly meetings with other RIC supervisors for collaboration and support. Illustrative Duties

  • Provides staff supervision for all clinical aspects of the program;
  • Plans, assigns, and reviews work of team members;
  • Interviews and selects candidates for various positions;
  • Performs complex evaluations and makes independent diagnoses using Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD) - 10;
  • Provides individual, family and group treatment;
  • Maintains a caseload of diverse, complex, and high risk individuals;
  • Develops treatment plans and adapts treatment interventions and approaches;
  • Provides assessment and treatment services to individuals presenting a wide variety of emotional, social, and mental disorders over a range of severity;
  • Consults with professionals on a variety of problems including delivery of needed services for clinically complex cases;
  • Provides liaison to community agencies to facilitate communication and service provision for individuals requiring multiple services;
  • Develops and implements program activities and services, including training and educational activities;
  • Under direction, develops and implements a specialized program which is designed to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of service provision;
  • Supervises day-to-day program operations;
  • Promotes awareness of program services through presentations;
  • Develops and monitors program's policies and procedures;
  • Ensures that program is in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local policies, regulations, and statutes;

  • Knowledge of major schools of treatment inclusive of substance abuse prevention and treatment methods/techniques;

  • Ability to establish rapport and maintain effective relationships with individuals receiving services and the individuals and families who support them;

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college with at least a master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or nursing plus three years of clinical experience or a doctoral degree in psychology, social, counseling or nursing plus one year of clinical experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
  • MANDT Certifications within 90 days of appointment and annually thereafter.
  • First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of appointment and maintained throughout Community Services Board employment.
  • Medication Administration Assistance Certification within 90 days of appointment.
  • Valid driver's license with fewer than six demerit points (or equivalent in another state) maintained throughout employment.
  • Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia in one of the following:
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker,
    • Licensed Professional Counselor,
    • Clinical Psychologist,
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist,
    • Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner or
    • Clinical Nurse Specialist.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry check, a driving record check, and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. A TB screening upon hire and annually thereafter. Requires a National Provider Identifier.

This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.)

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs may be subject to a weekly testing requirement. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working in a behavioral health residential setting working with adults.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple human services systems and state program agencies, such as jails, hospitals, day program providers, crisis care settings, and medical providers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community base resources and treatment services.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, theories, and methods of the psychological and social development of the individual.
  • Experience with and thorough knowledge of intake procedures, social history development, and interviewing techniques.
  • Experience with and ability to formulate diagnoses for clients with acute, chronic, severe mental illness.
  • Experience with and ability to diagnostically interpret data obtained from psychological test results, social histories, and interventions.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to independently transport self and consumers and fulfill duties at various sites. Ability to walk significant distances within multiple buildings, climb stairs, and respond to physical requirements necessary to comply with security and safety regulations. Ability to attend offsite meetings and trainings, communicate effectively orally and in writing, and observe, process, and document clinical information. Ability to access, input, and retrieve computer data. Ability to respond quickly to crisis and remain engaged in a high stress environment when managing staff and clinical challenges.
