Duties

• Perform planning and estimating for maintenance and repair projects.
• Monitor maintenance, inspections, testing and reporting of hospital utility systems in compliance with requirements of The Joint Commission.
• Recommend changes to policies and procedures as required.
• Manage construction and repair projects from inception to completion.
• Review project designs developed by others for completeness and correctness.
• Perform troubleshooting of hospital utility architectural systems.
• Troubleshoot malfunctioning utilities systems and return to service.
• Coordinate utilities work with specialized building systems such as those found in laboratories, research facilities or hospitals.
• Write operating or maintenance instructions for equipment.
• Communicate verbally and through Microsoft Office Software products.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: assisting with engineering design preparation; utilizing fire and life safety codes for facility compliance; and preparing utility system documentation for The Joint Commission compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).
