Duties

  • Developing comprehensive and complex economic studies.

  • Collates, cleans, transforms, analyzes, and integrates structured and unstructured data from various sources in preparation for analysis.

Qualifications

Basic Education Requirement
: Applicants must possess a degree in economics that includes at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. (You must submit your college transcript(s) with the conferred date.), AND meet the following specialized experience requirements.

At the GS-13 level: Besides the basic education requirement listed above, you must have at least one full-time year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in federal service or comparable experience not gained through federal service. Specialized experience must demonstrate a mastery of economic issues regarding safety net, conservation and/or credit programs to include the following: 1) Developing comprehensive and complex economic studies, 2) Evaluating, analyzing and determining impacts of legislative alternatives and proposals and dissemination to policy officials; 3) Serving as authoritative technical advisor to provide informed interpretation of policy alternatives, observed economic phenomena, and forecasts of economic movements; 4) Consult and collaborate with statistical, data science, economics and agricultural professionals in the collection, linkage, processing, mining, coding, classification, and analysis of administrative data; 5) Collates, cleans, transforms, analyzes, and integrates structured and unstructured data from various sources in preparation for analysis.

Education cannot be a substitute for specialized experience at this grade level.

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the 02/03/2023 of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined above.

Time in grade: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

College Transcript: There is a Basic Education Requirement for this series. You must submit a copy of your transcripts to include course number, title, completion, grade and confer date of degree. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications. Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If a relevant course is not clearly qualifying (e.g. special topic, seminar, research, thesis, obscure or misleading course title, etc.), please submit an official course syllabi and/or detailed course description from the university/college for that particular course to ensure you are properly evaluated.
