As a National Bank Examiner (Analyst to AsDC), you will:
  • Analyze supervision findings and other sources of information to identify areas of concern, determine methods of resolution, and recommend appropriate courses of action. Analyze banking industry, economic, and other financial data to identify potential systemic risks and assess the impact of system risk on assigned portfolio and supervisory strategies for portfolio institutions.
  • Prepare presentations for the AsDC to communicate with OCC management, banking industry officials, trade groups, other federal agencies, and public interest groups.
  • Work closely with Associate DCs, ADCs, the DC Analyst and other MCBS staff on Midsize specific issues and other issues that may have MCBS-wide implications.
  • Provide input and expertise on safety and soundness and administrative issues. May participate in complex or challenging examination and supervisory activities in community or midsize banks.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a staff of employees. Monitor the progress of assignments and evaluate training/developmental needs.

  • This position is excluded from the bargaining unit.
  • This position requires a National Bank Examiner (NBE) commission reflecting the incumbent is authorized to sign Reports of Examinations (ROEs) for national banks and/or a Federal Thrift Regulator (FTR) accreditation reflecting the incumbent is authorized to sign ROEs for federal savings associations.
  • Complete a one-year trial period (unless already completed).
  • Complete a background investigation (unless already completed).
  • Sign a statement that you are voluntarily leaving the competitive service for a position in the excepted service, if applicable.
  • Travel overnight or locally on a frequent basis.
  • Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
  • File an Executive Branch Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 450) and an OCC Financial Disclosure Form.
  • File an OCC Financial Disclosure Form.
  • Complete a financial disclosure review and resolve any ethics issues.

You must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement:

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-5 band level. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
  • Analyzing financial data to identify systemic risk and assess the impact; OR
  • Providing consulting services to management on bank supervisory issues and operational processes.


Selective factor: If full UCE (e.g., cross-credentials) is required: You must also possess a National Bank Examiner (NBE) commission reflecting that you are authorized to sign Reports of Examinations (ROEs) for national banks and federal savings associations.

The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

  • This is a nontraditional position subject to the Alternative Location Arrangements PPM 3110-53. It may be filled in an alternate location within MCBS provided the location is cost effective, operationally efficient, and complies with the standards contained in PPM 3110-53.
