Senior Research ScientistThe George Mason University, School of Business, Baroni Center for Government Contracting invites applications for a Senior Research Scientist position. The incumbent will help conduct research, thought leadership, and outreach to support the Baroni Center's work with the Department of Defense, other U.S. Government agencies, and companies across the government contracting community. The term is 12 months with the potential for renewal. The school is evolving to become more interdisciplinary, more connected, and more diverse.About the Baroni Center for Government Contracting:The mission of the Baroni Center for Government Contracting is to address the business, policy, and regulatory issues in government contracting through research, education and training, and collaboration, spurring innovation and entrepreneurship and achieving mutually beneficial outcomes for government, industry, and academia.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Writing reports, articles, and case studies on government contracting issues;Helping grow the Baroni Center's thought leadership and research portfolio;Drafting and publishing commentary pieces on government contracting issues;Seeking extramural research funding through grants and contracts;Undertaking academic literature reviews and managing qualitative and quantitative research data;Conducting interviews with staff at government contracting firms and government agencies; andParticipating in other activities of the Baroni Center, including: student engagement activities, internal strategic planning and research activities and Advisory Board activities.Required Qualifications:Master's degree in Business, Economics or Public Policy or demonstrable research that exhibits mastery; or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience;Skill with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams; andThree or more years' experience in defense contracting, public procurement, accounting, or business and policy research.Preferred Qualifications:PhD in Business, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field;Research experience in defense contracting or public procurement;Managerial experience in defense contracting or public procurement; andFamiliarity with R or Stata, NVivo, and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
