Overview

Northwest Federal Credit Union is seeking qualified interns for our paid Summer Internship Program at our Corporate Office in Herndon, VA. Our summer internship program is designed to provide college students the opportunity to learn about Northwest Federal and gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a professional environment that aligns with their career goals. This is an 8-week internship program starting on June 5, 2023.

The Data Analytics Intern will work with the Data Analytics and Operations (DAO) team as well as the Data Development team to enhance NWFCU data discovery, validation, documentation, and analytics. The candidate will work closely with both groups to develop skills that will allow them to sharpen their SQL abilities, gain more understanding of how a database operates, realize the considerations and monitoring needs of an ETL pipeline, and realize how information is disseminated within an organization.

Responsibilities

  • Metadata management - Support efforts to enhance the discoverability of data, including efforts to catalog data in tools identified by the DAO team; data documentation, consumption, and management
  • SharePoint updates for DAO site
  • Help with SEO / Google Analytics reporting
  • Validate ingested data against source data
  • Generate Entity Relationship diagrams for existing source data
  • Assist with monitoring and creating analytics around data loads
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)

Qualifications

Required
  • Must be enrolled in a credited university at the junior or senior level in pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or Data Analytics
  • Average 3.0 GPA (transcripts required)
  • Must be available for our 8-week session from June 5th through August 4th - 40 hours a week
  • Self-motivated, self-starter who will proactively reach out for help when necessary
  • Proficient with MS Office applications
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL

Preferred
  • Understanding of database relationships - Primary Key to Foreign Key
  • Experience with some Python coding
  • Experience with a diagraming tool
