The incumbent coordinates all personnel-related functions for the department acts as the HR Liaison to the HR/Payroll Department and provides human resources support to OCM in a variety of ongoing activities, special projects, services, and outreach initiatives. Responsibilities: Manages human resources functions including recruitment, hiring, terminations, and personnel actions; Functions as the search committee coordinator for all departmental searches; Directs the development and administration of the department's orientation program, onboarding activities, training, and performance evaluation processes; Disseminates HR-related information within the department; Supervises student support staff; Establishes and maintains an organized and confidential personnel records management system; andAssists with general and special projects, as needed. Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Experience planning, developing, and managing human resources programs, policies, procedures, and reporting; Ability to work independently and collaboratively; Ability to take responsibility for work productivity and routine issues as they arise while demonstrating effective time management skills; Ability to work effectively and courteously with internal and external diverse populations; Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; Coordination, organizational, and top-notch business skills to perform day-to-day duties; Problem-solving skills, initiative, follow through, and attention to detail; Ability to keep track of delegated tasks and team assignments, while ensuring project schedules are maintained; Ability to effectively multi-task; Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and able to deal with frequent change or unexpected events; Demonstrated service-oriented approach; andAdvanced computer skills in Microsoft Office.Preferred Qualifications:HR experience in an institution of higher education;Knowledge of state and university human resources policies and practices with the ability to properly interpret, communicate, and provide guidance to department members on such policies;Ability to take direction from others, anticipate and resolve problems with limited supervision;Knowledge of university business systems including Banner and Handshake;Experience working with sensitive and confidential information; andPrevious experience working in a Virginia state agency is highly desired.
