Westat is seeking an Accessibility Specialist to support the development and maintenance of accessibility resources and materials, including training documents and checklists.  Support includes providing information to staff regarding Federal Section 508 standards and accessibility guidelines. The successful candidate will be able to learn and understand new technologies quickly, for example, updating front-end HTML pages.  The candidate must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, a proactive communicator, and able to organize and present complex information in a clear, concise manner.
Job Responsibilities:
·    Write audio/video descriptions, write alternative text for complex charts, equations, and images, and create table summaries for digital products, including social media 
·    Work with 508 Coordinator and other staff to develop resources, training materials, and presentations
·    Monitor multiple corporate mailboxes and take action as needed
Basic Qualifications:
·    A Bachelor's degree 
·    Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
·    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
·    Familiarity with WCAG 2.0 success criteria and web accessibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications: 
·    1-3 years of copy editing, proof-reading or technical writing experience 
·    Video captioning experience
·    Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
·    Spanish language a plus
Other requirements:
·    Be available for full-time work (9am to 5:30pm, M-F) hybrid with some work on-site in our Rockville location
