Duties

To develop and implement high-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) methods that establish the higher order structure and dynamics of biotherapeutics and vaccines.

To develop and apply nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and other biophysical techniques to evaluate the physical and chemical stability of biotherapeutics and vaccines.

Coordinates and collaborates with colleagues to complete projects and formulate new methodologies.

Prepares high quality peer-reviewed manuscripts and presents research findings at national and international scientific conferences and meetings.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

A.
Degree : physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.

OR

B.
Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must meet the following Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level (ZP-III at NIST). Specialized experience consists of Expertise in biophysical measurements and data analysis; particularly high-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Expertise with biochemistry and bioanalytical techniques. Experience with the use of biomolecular modeling and statistical analysis tools.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
