Job Description

The Washington Post is seeking a reporter to cover the Washington Capitals and the National Hockey League.

This is a challenging and high-profile beat in Sports that requires someone with the capability to develop sources, break news, and write with speed, clarity and accuracy. Candidates should be able to identify and write conceptually smart and distinctive stories that take readers beyond the rink and into the lives of players and the oddities of the game of hockey. A comfort level with social media, graphics and data and an affinity for alternative storytelling forms that can provide deeper insight and help The Post expand its readership, both locally and nationally, are welcome qualifications.

The ideal candidate will be someone with a high metabolism who wants to own the Capitals beat and ensure The Post remains the preeminent source of news on the team and the league.

This position is based in our Washington newsroom.
