The Product Development Director leads the development of new products to deliver on the organization's desired user experience and to achieve the organization's goals. Interfaces with clients or prospective clients to identify needs and determine solutions. Provides feedback to marketing and sales. Collaborates with senior management to develop product strategies for competitive positioning to increase sales and ensure continued and successful growth and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Development, Quality Assurance, and Design while leading and managing a team to develop a coherent, well-integrated product strategy that will have a unique value in the market. Works extensively to ensure the vision is realized.
  • Guides both the product strategy and execution of the organization's products. Manages multiple products and priorities, setting clear and measurable quarterly product priority goals.
  • Collaborates as a key member of the Digital Integration leadership team to lead team members from ideation to technical development and deliver consumer value.
  • Manages, mentors, and coaches product managers, working closely with design, product operations and digital technology to deliver stunning and effective work, quickly, properly scoped and at a high-level of quality.
  • Owns product roadmaps for all the product teams. Defines roadmaps based on audience needs, impact on business goals, and input from stakeholders and leadership. Supports high-level product strategy, ensuring we are asking the right questions and solving for distinct needs.
  • Directs daily operations of globally distributed Quality Assurance teams of 20+ across multiple supplies to achieve standards of excellence and to continuously improve project effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Provides thoughtful product perspective in customer facing roles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of quality assurance experience in application and cloud environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in related field required with supervisory experience a plus.
  • Technical acumen to work closely with Product Managers and Solution Architects, validating solution/design and provide testing guidance.
  • Experience in leading java web based, AEM, and iOS and Android native applications QA teams.
  • Experience in DevOps and setting up CI/CD processes from testing standpoint.
  • Experience testing API endpoints using Postman or similar tools.
  • Experience working within a wide variety of automated testing frameworks using Selenium, Selenium Grid, CI/CD pipeline, Docker, Web Service Automation, SoapUI, REST, Database SQL.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
