Duties

As a Policy Advisor, you will:

- Formulate, conduct, evaluate, and carry out a wide range of economic and financial analysis relating to those duties described in the introduction.
- Develop, produce, and prepare policy statements, briefing materials, Congressional testimonies, Congressional reports, official correspondence, and other official documents for the Secretary, and other senior officials at Treasury in their role as supporting the Chairperson of the Council and at member agencies of the Council.
- Work with others and independently in coordinating analysis on matters before the Council. Work products contain all relevant background information and present alternatives and recommendations on which policy decisions can be based.
- Develop research and analytical materials on matters of interest to the Council. Support interagency committees and working groups to help generate research findings that are used to resolve critical issues that arise in the course of formulating Council, Treasury, or member agency policy positions and to inform decisions made by members of the Council.

    Qualifications

    You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

    Specialized experience for the GS-14: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service, public or other private sectors. Specialized experience for this position includes all of the following:
    -Experience leading projects related to financial, economic, or policy matters; AND
    -Identifying or managing operational or financial risks related to financial markets or institutions; AND
    -Preparing written research or analysis for use by senior officials in the private or public sector for the development of policy decisions, including briefing papers, reports, presentations, and/or memoranda regarding financial stability or economic or financial analysis; AND
    -Conducting economic or financial analyses of the policies, programs, or practices of financial markets, such as capital markets, commodity markets, derivatives markets, or digital assets markets; or financial institutions, such as depository institutions, broker-dealers, investment companies, insurance companies, central counterparties, or digital assets institutions.

    Time in Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    • A one year probationary period may be required.
