Department of Global and Community HealthMPH Program CoordinatorThe George Mason University, Department of Global and Community Health, College of Public Health, invites applications for a MPH Program Coordinator. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Department:Founded in 2006, the Department of Global and Community Health offers a BS in Community Health; a MS in Global Health; a MPH with concentrations in Community Health Promotion, Epidemiology, Food Security and Nutrition, Global Health, Health Equity and Social Justice, Health Policy, and Public Health Practice (online); and PhD in Public Health with concentrations in Epidemiology and Social and Behavioral Sciences, enrolling over 600 students. All degrees programs are accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. The department includes 26 full-time faculty members with backgrounds in biostatistics, environmental health, epidemiology, global health, and social and behavioral sciences, who are committed to the ideals of health equity and social justice among underserved domestic and global populations.About the Position:The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the MPH degree program, the MS in Global Health, and the public health graduate certificate programs. The coordinator will assist with program marketing, student recruitment, admissions, advising, curriculum and program implementation and evaluation, and compliance with core competencies and accreditation standards required by the Council on Education for Public Health.Responsibilities:Supports data collection and reporting that are needed for accreditation;Communicates and responds to questions from existing students in a timely manner;Responds to inquiries from prospective students; assist applicants with the application process; ensure that all applications are completed and reviewed on schedule; oversees admissions processes in Web Admit;Coordinates all program orientations and on-boarding activities;Advises students on all degree, practicum, and graduation requirements; provides assistance with course registrations as needed; and ensure that all related paperwork are processed accurately and on schedule;Monitors student academic progress and success and maintain accurate student records;Assist with student recruitment activities, such as hosting online information sessions for prospective students;Updates the MPH website with fresh content;Revises the MPH Program Student Handbook as need;Collaborates and coordinates academic advising across all academic units in the college regarding advising, curriculum, and data collection to support CEPH accreditation activities;Works with faculty and departmental leadership to ensure that course offerings meet the needs of students;Provides program activity reports upon request for the department and college leadership including those required for accreditation;Represents the department, college, and university on various committees related to graduate education;Acts as a liaison with the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health and the Council on Education for Public Health; andFosters a diverse, inclusive, and positive work environment for faculty, staff, students, and University and College constituents.Required Qualifications:Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience;Excellent written and presentation communication skills;Demonstrated experience with leadership/coordination, communication, program development, and administration;Initiative and leadership to work independently and collaboratively with a variety of internal and external constituents with minimal supervision;Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail;Exceptional skills with the Microsoft Office Suite and a survey tool platform;Experience conducting virtual meetings using Zoom; andKnowledge of and a commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence.Preferred Qualifications:MPH from a CEPH accredited degree program or school of public health;Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds;Knowledge of best practices in academic advising to provide diverse students equitable and inclusive academic support;Experience working collaboratively as a member of a team that shares responsibility for achieving advising excellence, supporting student success, and implementing strategies to achieve organizational goals;Knowledge of public health career options to help students succeed in meeting their career goals;Knowledge of public health curriculum, policies, and processes; andExperience working on CEPH accreditation activities.
