Primary Purpose
The Global Benefits and Retirement team delivers programs that empower employees to maximize their physical, psychological, and financial wellbeing so they can do and be their best. Reporting to Sr. Director, Compensation & Benefits, the Manager, Global Benefits & Retirement manages benefits & retirement programs from strategy through implementation to attract and retain world class talent. The position manages day to day development and delivery of services related to employee benefits & retirement programs globally and US immigration requirement for all Emmes entities and affiliations. Supervises benefits and retirement team, including training, developing, coaching, mentoring and performance management.

Responsibilities
Leave Programs Management and Operations
- Manages and administers all aspects of leaves of absence, ensuring compliance with Emmes policies, federal, state, provincial and local laws, including Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave (WA-PFML), and Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA), Workers Compensation, etc.
- Manages the leave administration process from employees' initial notice of the need for leave to the employee's return to work. Gathers and ensures completion of required paperwork, including medical certifications, determines leave eligibility, designates, or denies leaves as appropriate, recertifies leaves, and tracks and accounts for leave time used.
- Guides and oversees both employee and supervisor expectations for leave management; coordinates leave payments with payroll to ensure accuracy. Ensures HRIS and vendor system records are current.
- Manages workflow to ensure all leave transactions are processed accurately and timely, including reporting hours each pay period, tracking leave time, and periodic follow ups.
- Acts as the Subject Matter Expert for administering leaves and retirement programs.
- Manages all aspects of employee retirement plans and policies and works with consultants and administrators. Implements new, approved, or modified plans and employee retirement policies, and supervises administration of existing plans.
- Plan Compliance Management - Ensures US & ERISA retirement benefits plans, policies, and procedures are fully compliant with state and federal regulations. Manages audits and preparation of filings as required by government agencies, including Form 5500.
- Program Design & Adaptation - Identifies design improvements, issues and/or process breakdowns, makes recommendations, and works with internal & external partners to enhance design and procedures.
- Participates in retirement committee meetings and in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) for related integration activities.
- Monitors employee eligibility for the Retirement Plan and ensures accuracy of plan contributions to payroll.
- Develops and maintains communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits, retirement, and other program offerings.
- Partners with local attorney's and employees to help support H1B and Permanent residency process.
- Consults with benefit brokers in countries to review and recommend changes that align with local markets. Coordinate annual benefit renewal for Canadian, Indian and European benefit plans.
- Identifies trends to see emerging patterns, regulatory changes and adjust processes and support mechanisms as needed.
- Participates in M&A for related integration activities.
- Leads administration of employee transactions and related records maintenance in relevant systems.
- Oversees data audits, integrity, and integration to ensure reports and analytics accuracy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Human Resources, or related field.
- At least 6 years of progressive experience administering benefits and retirement programs in North America.
- Demonstrated high level of experience and proficiency using automated systems to administer benefit and retirement programs. ADP proficiency an asset.
- Knowledge of North American government regulations as they apply to benefit & retirement programs, company policies, and operations.
- Subject matter expertise with FMLA, Disability, HIPAA, ERISA and Section 125 plans.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills required for interfacing with all levels of management.
- Detailed orientated.
- Strong internal and external customer service focus, with a genuine desire to assist others.
- Effective project management and complex problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
