Works as part of the Wastewater financial program. We work in a team environment to perform a variety of professional, financial and accounting functions in support of the Wastewater Management business area.
  • Processes data in the FOCUS/SAP Financial and Procurement modules.
  • Prepares a variety of financial documents in the FOCUS Financial Module to include invoice payments, journal entries, travel, verify interagency billings and Work Performed for Others (WPFO).
  • Perform detailed reconciliation of agency procurement card accounts and distribution of clearing account expenses utilizing journal entries in FOCUS/SAP financial module.
  • Manages excel spreadsheets for over 90 utilities accounts to ensure proper payment, posting, continued operation of sewer infrastructure facilities and provide information on utility usage to management staff.
  • Processes material receipts for services in the FOCUS Procurement System; maintains IR/GR integrity for agency purchase order documents; ensures accuracy of financial coding on payments for multiple Wastewater funding sources.
  • Reconciles financial reports in FOCUS/SAP to ensure appropriate fund, cost center and commitment items are reflected for each transaction.
  • Ensures financial records are easily retrievable and audit ready.
  • Collaborates with other administrative assistants in the Wastewater Program to maintain seamless Accounts Payable back-up when needed; performs other related duties as required.
Note: The assigned functional areas of this position are general administrative support, accounting, and procurement .

The salary for this position will not exceed the midpoint of the advertised salary range.

Ability to perform data entry into Purchasing/Logistics Enterprise Resource Planning systems and/or Financial Enterprise Resource Planning systems in at least three functions (e.g., create shells, accounts payable processing).

Personnel and Payroll
Ability to perform routineHuman Capital Management Enterprise Resource Planning system functions (e.g., process PARS, requisitions).

Executive Assistance
Ability to maintain confidentiality and be sensitive to political issues.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and two years of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with Fairfax County's SAP/FOCUS Finance, Procurement and Marketplace systems.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suites.
  • A self-starter with excellent work ethics well organized with the ability to pay attention to detail and the ability to function both independently and in a teamwork environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
