Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Enforcing a range of law enforcement activities, which involve responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property; (2) Detecting and investigating minor crimes and apprehending and detaining violators and (3) Conducting investigations of violations of fish, wildlife, and environmental laws.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-7).
Education
For this position substitution of education for specialized experience is not permitted.

- In this position you will serve as a Police Officer (Conservation Law Enforcement) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
- Performing conservation law enforcement duties. Providing coverage in remote areas of the installation to enforce security measures.
- Participating in investigations to determine violations of environmental and fish and game laws.
- Providing education information on wildlife conservation.

- IAW AR 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program apply. Employee and prospective employee of this job are expected to maintain a high standard of conduct.
- Incumbent will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT). Failure to meet the PAT requirements after the second attempt within a ninety-day period will result in separation.
- Be certified to use police weapons, equipment, cameras, crime scene evidence collecting equipment, and automated police information retrieval systems.
- Incumbent must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle. Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license. Loss of license may result in removal from the position.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment.
- Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability. Standard for medical exams are prescribed in AR 190-56 The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program.
- Successfully graduate from DA Police Academy or have received equivalent academic credit within 1 year of assignment.
- Incumbent is required to be qualified and certified in the use of all assigned weapons and police related equipment which may include chemical aerosol irritants and launched electronic stun device (LESD).
- Incumbent is required to be certified in the use of radar and breathalyzer operations
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Lautenberg Amendment. This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Incumbent works in an office and outside with possible exposure to inclement weather.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one- year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- Successfully graduate from the USAMPS Conservation Law Enforcement Officer Course within one year of assignment.
