Assistant Director of Recruitment EventsThe George Mason University Office of Admissions is seeking a dynamic and creative individual to fill the position of Assistant Director of Recruitment Events. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Responsible for the planning and implementation of all freshmen, transfer, and graduate recruitment events;Serves as the voice of the Admissions office for all event planning on the Recruitment Action Council (RAC), to ensure all academic units and campus departments are represented at Admissions' events;Strategically works with leadership to anticipate the need for future events to meet the enrollment goals of the University; andManages one to two Event Coordinators and works across the Office of Admissions and the University to ensure each event is planned in accordance with university and office-wide budgets and goals.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/training and experience;Demonstrated event planning experience;Experience managing a team;Experience with online event software;Must be extremely detail-oriented and organized;Demonstrated ability to handle several projects at once, adhering to tight deadlines;Team oriented, but able to work independently in a fast-paced environment;Well-developed listening and comprehension skills;Well-developed communication skills with the ability to write clearly, and speak effectively in front of a large group;Self-starter;Excellent interpersonal skills;Ability to make independent decisions on event planning and coordination in line with office goals, objectives, and budgets;Organized;Diplomatic;Exhibit a genuine, professional, and positive impression of the university;Experience working with high school or college aged groups;Demonstrated customer service experience;Comfortable working with diverse populations;Computer skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word;Must be willing to frequently work nights and weekends;Must be available and willing to work a full day on the day before and day of each major event, which includes some weekends; week-of preparations include several evening work hours and physical labor;Physical labor-ability to safely and independently move up to 50 pounds and ability to stand for long periods of time; andMust currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/. The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver's licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.Preferred Qualifications:Salesforce experience;Bilingual;Experience planning events at a college or university; andExperience with Adobe Creative Suite.
