As a Supervisory Examiner (Assistant Regional Director), you will:
  • Lead and mentor a team of managers by modeling the highest levels of integrity, stewardship of Bureau funds and the public's trust, and ethical behavior.
  • Translate program objectives, the Regional Director's goals, and OSE's priorities into a team vision, organizational structures, budgets, and staffing requirements for current and out years.
  • Serve as a strategic executive advisor to the Regional Director regarding policy and procedure issues, including those of a complex supervisory, enforcement and/or regulatory nature.
  • Through subordinate supervisors, oversee-consistent with CFPB policies and protocols-a caseload of depository financial institutions and non-depository consumer financial services companies (regulated entities).


Conditions of Employment

This position is located in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Office of Supervision Examinations, Northeast Region. The function of the office is to conduct consumer protection supervision and examinations at a wide variety of depository financial institutions and non-depository financial services. Work will primarily be conducted on-site at these companies. When not on-site conducting examinations, work will be performed out of your duty location, which will be your home address. You will be duty stationed at your home address and will be affiliated, for reporting purposes, with the Northeast regional office. Please note: Youwill be home duty-stationed. To be considered for this position, applicants MUST reside within 90 minutes commuting time to an approved airport within the contiguous 48 states having daily flight options to three frequented destination airports within the examiner's assigned region. To be considered for this position, you must be willing to adhere to the parameters outlined above.

Northeast Region: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

The pay employees receive will depend on their assigned duty location which will be their home address. An employee's pay may include a geographical pay differential depending on the duty location. The pay shown for this job depicts the range covering the LOWEST LEVEL WITHOUT geographical pay differential up to the HIGHEST LEVEL INCLUDING the highest geographical differential.

    You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
    Selective Factor: Performance at this level requires a commission as a Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (CFPB or Bureau) Examiner through successful completion of the Examiner Commissioning Program (ECP); OR commission from one of the following: Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC); Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (FRB); Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC); National Credit Union Association (NCUA); or the former Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS).


    Specialized Experience:
    To qualify at the CN-71, you must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the CN-60 level in the Federal service (For qualification purposes, the CN-60 is broadly equivalent to the GS-14 level). For this position, specialized experience is described as experience that demonstrates:
    • Managing a portfolio of consumer financial protection-related examinations, audits, regulatory investigations, or similar compliance related activities in a large depository or at non-depository financial services organizations of 10 billion or more; AND
    • Analyzing, interpreting and applying a full range of federal financial protection laws, regulatory and policy provisions to resolve interlaced compliance issues; AND
    • Writing and implementing policy or procedures for use within an organization, agency or bureau; AND
    • Experience managing, guiding, mentoring an examination staff; AND
    • Explaining regulatory subjects to senior business official orally and in writing through presentations and reports.

Salary may be set from the minimum of the salary range to the midpoint of the salary range.     • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
