Full Time

  • You will provide technical direction for the planning, organizing, directing, conducting and reporting of system safety engineering in direct support of multiple PMA programs and integrated systems for air and sea applications.
  • You will provide guidance and oversight to the principle of safety (PFS) to ensure consistent application of System Safety principles for Commercial Derivative Aircraft and Commercial Air Services (CDA/CAS) projects.
  • You will be responsible for creating system safety requirements pertaining to the development of new specifications, modifying and evaluating aircraft and equipment, and interpreting test results.
  • You will develop new system safety test techniques and approaches to reduce the severity and frequency of hazards and mishaps and keeps abreast of the state-of-the-art technologies applicable to tactical aircraft weapon systems.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.


Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or DS-04 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing a broad knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airworthiness certification criteria as they relate to aircraft design and development, system safety requirements, and aircraft operations; 2) Utilizing knowledge of technical issues, prevailing system safety practices and techniques, and identifying problems in the areas of aircraft systems design, maintenance, and operations (FAA Pilot Certificate or FAA A&P Mechanic Certificate preferred); 3) Providing System Safety engineering support and/or technical leadership to air system programs/projects; 4) Interfacing with Program and technical leadership to resolve safety issues and hazards; and 5) Applying System Safety technical acumen & expertise to assess system level hazards and execute System Safety programs.
