Job Description

The Washington Post is offering a six-month contract position for a multiplatform editor to work on app experiments.

This role requires a well-rounded journalist with experience curating and editing in a fast-paced newsroom environment. The ideal candidate must have strong news judgment, sharp headline- and alert-writing skills, and the ability to respond quickly to breaking news. The candidate, part of the Curation and Platforms team, must also demonstrate an eagerness to work on new products and technology.

This editor will curate a balanced daily editorial package that highlights the most important and interesting news, including clear headlines and bold, thoughtful production that maximizes each story's visual impact for mobile audiences. We are seeking someone grounded in journalistic values who is comfortable multitasking and can think quickly and creatively about how to deliver journalism to new audiences. Copy-editing or app experience is a plus. Night and weekend work will be required.

Those interested should upload a résumé and cover letter explaining their strengths to our jobs portal. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled, but those received by 2/17/2023 will be prioritized. The cover letter should be addressed to Curation and Platforms Editor Ben Pillow and Curation and Platforms Deputy Editor Steven Bohner.

The Post strives to provide its readers with high-quality, trustworthy news and information while constantly innovating. That mission is best served by a diverse, multi-generational workforce with varied life experiences and perspectives. All cultures and backgrounds are welcomed.
