The MIL Corporation seeks a Mid-Sr. Level Systems Administrator (Systems Administration, Senior Analyst) to support a Federal Government client at our Patuxent River, MD location. The Systems Administrator will interface between the RDT&E network, external labs and contract partners, performing system administration and support.

  • Install, configure, administer, support and maintain Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems in a virtual environment
  • Administer and support VMware server/cluster environment
  • Implement Risk Management Framework (RMF) methodology on assigned systems
  • Maintain and update operating system security patches
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems; coordinate resolution with internal technical resources and external vendors
  • Document maintenance, repair and test activities; include documentation updates as an integral part of every project
  • Follow change control procedures during new implementations and changes to existing systems
  • Create and maintain system documentation, diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Research and implement automated processes to improve operational efficiency
  • Analyze and monitor the capacity and performance of systems and software applications and make recommendations for improvements as necessary
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or an information technology-intensive discipline and 5 years of relevant experience; AA/AS and 7 years OR HS/GED and 9 years will be considered equivalent to a Bachelor's degree; a Master's degree will be considered in lieu of 2 years of professional experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in Microsoft Windows and/or Linux System Administration
  • 8570 IAT Level II Baseline Certification
  • Extensive knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Security+ CE certification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
  • 15-20% travel to other sites
  • Per federal guidelines, you may be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or willingness to obtain vaccination

Desired Qualifications
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Navy systems, networks, and IT infrastructure
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) is a plus
