Job Description
The Director of School Nutrition Services (SNS) ensures the division's meal program provides nutritious and delicious food that reflects the diverse cultures, tastes, and dietary needs of our 15,000 + students. The Director is also responsible for the management and administration of all functions of the ACPS Child Nutrition Program, including the planning, organization, supervision, and evaluation of all activities and staff within the School Nutrition Services Program.
This position reports to the Chief of Facilities and Operations.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Master's preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive, hands-on senior management experience in school nutrition with thorough knowledge of regulations and federal standards.
Registered Dietitian, School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) preferred

- Considerable knowledge of K-12 school nutritional programs
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a strategic plan
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws governing national school breakfast, national school lunch, CACFP supper program, summer feeding program, after-school snack program, HACCP program
- Thorough knowledge of School Nutrition Services self-sustaining (Enterprise) budgeting;
- Strong knowledge of procurement, bid specification, and contracts
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational management; ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms
- Ensures the SNS office provides healthy and delicious meals to students each day
- Leads, coaches, and evaluates a team of direct reports to ensure the SNS office meets its goals
- Supports the office's processes for food ordering, preparation, and distribution
- Ensures full compliance and consistent implementation of all federal and state laws and guidelines
- Leads efforts to increase both the nutritional value of and student satisfaction with meals, paying special attention to our students' diverse cultural backgrounds and dietary needs and preferences
- Evaluates each school's meals program to determine effectiveness; monitor and evaluates the implementation of the meal program overall; make updates as needed.
- Establishes and implements budgeting and financial management systems consistent with federal, state, local, and division requirements
- Sets office goals to ensure programmatic financial self-sufficiency
- Ensures ACPS kitchens are up-to-date, in good maintenance order, and efficiently utilized
- Leads planning for professional development of staff
- Develops specifications for purchasing quality food, supplies, and equipment; prepares bid packages; and works with the Director of Procurement to execute appropriate procurement strategy and secure vendors under contract for all purchases.

- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
- Tuberculosis Skin Test.
Public Health Compliance
- Proof of COVID vaccination. Exemptions for religious/medical will be reviewed.
- Must follow safety and health protocols.
