Job Description
The Executive Director of Student Services oversees the Office of Student Services by providing a high level of supervision and evaluation, accountability, and support to assigned staff charged with running the day-to-day operations in the department.
This position reports to the Chief of Student Services and Equity.
Qualifications
Education: Master's degree in psychology, social work, school counseling, or related field with administrative endorsement. Doctorate preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in educational leadership roles with increasing levels of responsibility.

Essential Functions
- Implements Strategic Plan goals and objectives to align department goals.
- Directs and facilitates the transition, disciplinary hearing, and suspension process to include appeals.
- Provides leadership and supervision in the areas of students experiencing homelessness, truancy outreach, substance abuse prevention and intervention services, and residency verification.
- Oversees the implementation, training, and revisions of the ACPS Student Code of Conduct.
- Coordinates and oversees homeschool applications and processing of homeschool data.
- Provides daily technical assistance to school administrators on behavioral and mental health needs.
- Provides/coordinates professional development for ACPS staff on department-related topics.
- Assists in coordination of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) behavioral intervention supports and services.
- Oversees the Section 504 process and compliance to include appeals.
- Serves as FERPA liaison and receives and responds to student records requests in collaboration with other school and department staff.
- Serves as a Title IX investigator and as the compliance officer for investigating complaints of discrimination, harassment and bullying.
- Supports processing of subpoenas and consults with staff and division attorney.
- Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of curriculum and instructional strategies and evaluates the instructional programs within the realm of assigned duties. Monitors goal setting and evaluation of staff and various programs.
- Promotes public relations and facilitates positive communications among various constituents within the school division and in the larger community.
- Completes reports to the School Board, and state and federal departments of education.
- Supervises the development and implementation of successful student transitions among various alternative education programs.
- Administers and improves the school system programs in compliance with all policies, standards, and regulations.
- Allocates resources, hires and supervises personnel, and coordinates program implementation.
- Demonstrates appropriate fiscal management of funds within the departmental budget.
- Facilitates grant applications for various education programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, colleagues, parents, students, and community resources.
- Ability to develop and execute long-term goals and objectives, including demonstrated skill in organizing workflow, coordinating activities, and ensuring accountability.
