Production Coordinator, Center for the Arts The George Mason University Center for the Arts seeks qualified candidates for the Production Coordinator position. The Production Coordinator assists with coordination and facilitation of production activities within the Center for the Arts, undertake wages and expense processing and tracking for the production unit, and provide management of stage activities for the Concert Hall.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment. Responsibilities:Provides management of stage activities for specified Concert Hall events and adjunct activities;Identifies supplemental crew staffing needs for all events and make appropriate preparations to fulfill the requirements of assigned events;Coordinates and assists with fulfillment of technical information for booked-in events, particularly music department events;Assists the Production Manager with clerical and fiscal aspects of production and special project initiatives;Assists with security and parking logistics of artist residency activities;Produces the event summary report following each event in the Concert Hall;Performs occasional supervision of crew for facility preparations for events;Performs occasional operation of stage machinery such as lighting, audio, and rigging equipment as needed to facilitate rehearsals and performances;Performs general stage duties including stage preparations and restoration of facilities and equipment;Participates in regular staff, event and production meetings; andCoordinates stage management department with other production departments for effective overall management.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in relevant area of theater technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience;Knowledge of theater technology, including lighting, sound, and staging; andKnowledge of stage management and experienced with a variety of performance idioms (drama, dance, opera, musical, etc.).Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in a university setting;Experience with creating and reading deck and cue calling paperwork is preferred;Skills such as leadership, collaboration, and initiative are preferred;Ability to provide professional assistance to facilitate and coordinate the elements of production to fulfill artistic integrity;Possess skills to interact successfully with a wide variety of personalities;Experience with scheduling, multi-season calendar maintenance, theatrical paperwork and notation, Microsoft Office Suite; andGenerally knowledgeable and experienced in theatre technology and management such that the individual can efficiently lead the mounting of a performance. Basic technical skills (such as lights, carpentry, audio, and rigging) are needed to effectively execute a rehearsal and/or performance.
