ABOUT THIS POSITION:
The Department of Family Services (DFS) Adult and Aging Division welcomes applicants interested in the position of Senior Social Services Supervisor in the Adult and Aging Division.

Under the general direction of the Assistant Division Director,
  • Responsible for providing management and administrative oversight for multi-program functions that support service delivery and functions for: programmatic contract monitoring, communication, and compliance for contracts, Memorandum of Agreements (MOAs), Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs), and grants related to the work of the Adult & Aging division.
  • Works in collaboration with Adult and Aging (A&A) leadership and program staff, Department of Material Management (DPMM), and DFS Finance to ensure the contractor complies with the administrative, fiscal, and programmatic aspects of the contract.
  • Prepares and coordinates state audits for the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) program, acting as a liaison between the state and AAA.
  • Supervises the Home Care Unit (HCU) program staff and activities and projects related to the Home-Based Care (HBC) contract, including programmatically and fiscally monitoring the vendor and deliverables related to the HBC contract, as well as quality assurance.
  • Develops training curriculum and job aides to assist A&A social services staff with both local and state policy and procedure requirements related to the provision of home-based care services.
  • Participates in and may lead intra and interagency and community-based work groups and task forces.
  • Prepares and oversees preparation of narrative and statistical reports documenting the work or the program area or division.
  • Performs other supervisory, management, and monitoring duties as needed in support of the division, department or county's mission, vision and values.


Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Extensive knowledge of the principles, methods and problems of organization and management. Extensive knowledge of current social service problems and methods/approaches to address them. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of social work and casework supervision;
Knowledge of business process re-design methodologies. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to use automated technology.
Ability to maintain professional ethics and confidentiality of client information. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals. Ability to plan and direct the work of professional staff.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree, plus five years of increasingly responsible, directly-related professional experience in the social services or human services field. A master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

None.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and Child Protective Services check.

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs may be subject to a weekly testing requirement. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2+ years supervisory experience
  • Ability to maintain professional ethics and confidentiality of client information.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
