Position title: IT Coordinator, Warehouse Operations
Position #: 128062

The IT Coordinator position works within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) at the University of Maryland, College Park. This position will provide support for the VoIP, telephony and network infrastructure. This may involve entire life cycle management and support of network and communications equipment and services, such as telecommunications systems (VoIP and analog), automatic call distribution, voicemail, and other related systems or services. This position coordinates, processes and programs customer requests of moves, adds and changes to University networking and telecommunications systems. This position will be responsible for network port and VLAN configurations related to network services.

Minimum qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent combination of education, experience and training

Experience: 

  • One year experience working in a large communications organization with voice and data services.
  • Experience in a customer service operation. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively including good written and oral communication skills and good interpersonal skills is required.
  • Ability to instruct, direct, assist, guide and share information with both technical and non-technical personnel.

Preferences:

Education:

  • Degree in Business or Telecommunications preferred. Experience:
  • One year experience working in a Cisco VoIP environment.
  • Experience with hands-on use of supporting and deploying Cisco Unified Call Manager platform, hardware and end user devices.
  • Experience with coordinating efforts between various support groups and business environments.
  • Experience in a higher education environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with a project to migrate to a Cisco Unified Call Manager platform. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Technical knowledge of and experience working with Cisco Unified Call Manager, Cisco Unity Connections, Cisco Unified Contact Center Express.
  • Knowledge of Redsky e911 and Cisco Emergency Responder.
  • Knowledge of network services, such as DNS, DHCP and SNMP.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations, demonstrating strong decision making skills, initiative and creativity.

Additional information: 

Benefits Included:

Salary range $60,000-$70,000.

Physical demands: 

This position predominantly operates in an office environment though some periods of time may be spent in computer room and communications equipment spaces for installation, testing, and troubleshooting. Some work (less than 5%) requires moving and lifting of heavy communications equipment.
