Job Description

The Washington Post is seeking a video producer to help lead visual storytelling across our social platforms.

This producer will create and optimize content for mobile-first surfaces. They will work with video embeds in departments throughout the newsroom to produce vertical video for social platforms, including Snapchat and Reels for our primary Instagram accounts: @washingtonpost , @coveringpolitics and @postclimate . Many of these videos will appear on our app and site, as well.

The ideal candidate will have a clear point of view on the role that video plays in growing social accounts and establishing relationships with younger audiences. They will have a comprehensive grasp of the major storylines shaping the global news landscape and a strong perspective on how to contextualize news and empower people to live better lives.

The candidate should have at least two years of experience producing polished video for a news organization and should be able to edit quickly with Adobe products. They should be comfortable using analytics to make regular data-informed adjustments and coaching journalists on best practices for producing social-first video.

This position is based in our Washington newsroom.
