ERP International is seeking a full-time remote position as a Human Centered Design (HCD) and User Experience (UX) consultant to join our team supporting the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and to lead our corporate HCD Community of Practice across Federal agencies. We are looking for a highly experienced professional who is experienced in creating and running HCD projects, as well as formalizing processes around events such as user research and accessibility. You will be a primary point of contact to provide guidance and oversight in the development of deliverables on projects, as well as solutions to bring on new business. Responsibilities

  • Evaluate information systems' user population and their experiences to understand user affinities, user experience complexity, and user requirements
  • Lead Human Centered Design (HCD) user research including, but not limited to, user interviews, surveys, usability testing, Voice of the Customer (VoC) interviews, and competitive analysis for gathering and analyzing data to ensure solutions are rooted in user needs and deliver functionality to drive adoption
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and Product Owner to define vision and product experience
  • Lead participatory design activities (e.g., client workshops, card sorting) to understand vision, business model, and user needs and behaviors
  • Lead design of professional Customer Experience (CX) artifacts including, but not limited to, customer personas, journey maps, empathy grids, and User Experience (UX) designs, wireframes, prototypes, and 508 compliance design systems
  • Serve as the voice of the user while meeting the needs of the client
  • Use complex qualitative and quantitative research data, business goals, and requirements and translate them into functional designs
  • Derive actionable insights by leading user research activities and translating insights into prototypes
  • Conduct, design, and analyze user experience and usability testing results, incorporating findings into the end product
  • Create human-centered design solutions by considering market analysis, customer feedback, and usability findings
  • Work with key stakeholders across client organizations to facilitate workshops, ideation sessions and design sprints to gather, develop, and prioritize business requirements, use cases, features and processes across products and services
  • Translate user insights and business requirements into seamless workflows, information architecture, data visualizations, and interactions specifications
  • Work with highly collaborative teams in an agile, iterative design environment to determine best practices, processes, and standards for delivery of all products and services
  • Develop and nurture relationships as a subject matter expert, collaborating and coordinating with an interdisciplinary team of strategists, designers, developers, and delivery manager, as well as client and internal stakeholders, providing guidance in determining and developing UX best practices, scalable detailed design patterns and solutions for internal team enablement
  • Lead and contribute to our community of Experience Designers and Strategists, providing expertise and ensuring our methods and approach stays at the forefront of our practice


Qualifications

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college/university or equivalent development experience

Required Experience:
  • 6 years working with user experience associated with digital products including web, native apps, mobile and prototyping tools
  • 5 years' professional experience in human-centered design and/or closely related area (User Experience, Design Thinking/Design Strategies, User Research)
  • Experience with UX design and product thinking, Agile and Lean UX methodologies, interaction design (IxD), UX design, content strategy, usability testing, and CX/HCD research.
  • Experience planning and conducting primary and secondary research, analyzing and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative data for presentation to key stakeholders
  • Experience creating HCD-related deliverables (e.g., personas, journey maps, service blueprints, mock-ups, wireframes, prototypes)
  • Proficiency in Graphic Design and tools such as Adobe Illustrator
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop approaches to solve client problems and lead a team to execute the approach, achieving desired outcomes for the client
  • Experience using online collaboration tools such as Mural or Miro
  • Knowledge of accessibility and 508 requirements
  • Outstanding facilitation, brainstorming, and collaboration skills

Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile Scrum methodologies
  • Knowledge of Systems Development Lifecycle and the Project Management processes
  • Prior experience with federal or state governments IT projects
  • Experience working with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
