Overview

The Security Manager will work with law enforcement, internal departments, and members to prevent or minimize credit union losses. Serve as the Physical Security leader responsible for the development, implementation and management of the organization's security vision, strategy and programs as they align with overall enterprise goals. Develop, implement and maintain security processes across the organization to reduce risks, respond to incidents, and limit exposure to liability in all areas of physical, and personnel risk. Direct the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures related to physical security, loss prevention, and investigations. Ensure professional training, competencies and required skill sets are available and maintained across all specialized departments. Provide assurance that all pertinent regulatory and legal requirements are adhered too. Maintain safe and secure environment for employees and members; provide both preventive and demand maintenance as required on credit union alarm and surveillance systems.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of personnel safety, including coordinating emergency responses, safety training, and educating staff on best practices
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of physical security related procedures and processes, operation and maintenance for all credit union locations; increasing program effectiveness by evaluating security services and developing new services, if needed
  • Responsible for the issuance of credit union access badges; monitoring employee and visitor access; maintaining access control to NWFCU facilities by enforcing credit union policy regarding employee identification and visitor/contractor control
  • Conduct risk assessments to include safety and security inspections of all credit union facilities; to include the Herndon compound and outside branches
  • Responsible for physical security of SCIF rooms; perform self-assessments of SCIF's annually
  • Ensure the operation of equipment (intrusion devices, alarms, cameras) by testing and completing preventive maintenance requirements
  • Review digital video when needed and complete documentation regarding specific issues
  • Establish and maintain satisfactory liaison with law enforcement officers in geographical areas where employees/credit union buildings are located; maintaining
  • Develop and implement Security program policies, directives and procedures
  • Facilitate the implementation of security awareness, training and education programs in accordance with requirements
  • Ensure NWFCU maintains compliance with sponsors and regulators
  • Prepare reports or make presentations on internal investigations, losses, violations of regulations, policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular audits of user accesses, safe locations, external physical security inspections, etc.
  • Coordinate NWFCU continuous evaluation program in accordance with personnel security requirements
  • Manage security vendor relationships; Serve as liaison to vendor while on credit union premises
  • Ensure vendors are meeting contractual obligations and service level agreements.
  • Request, print, review, and process various NWFCU, Tenants & Visitor badge requests
  • Act as primary security focal point of contact for employees for all security requests for action, support or information requests
  • Provide assistance to fire, medical, safety and general assistance emergency situations, as defined by the AVP of Physical Security and the emergency plans
  • Provide assistance with safety and security inspections of all Credit Union facilities, to include the Herndon compound and outside branches
  • Conduct and maintain documentation of all external premises for potential threats to the credit union
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Use various security software
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years security experience within a corporate environment
  • Experienced in strategic planning, loss prevention, auditing, and risk management, as well as contract and vendor negotiation
  • Must have working knowledge of pertinent law and the law enforcement communities
  • Basic operating knowledge of security equipment to include but not limited to: CCTV's, cameras, panic buttons, and various types of locks and combinations
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to manage multiple related projects with multiple customers
  • Ability to plan work and organize materials and equipment for specific projects
  • Ability to initiate and manage projects that may affect other departments/branches
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task
  • Ability to work independently with limited required direction and guidance
  • Ability to manage own time to ensure objectives are achieved and within reasonable timescales without supervision
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance for access to government facilities; U.S. citizenship required
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and be available 24 hours a week for potential emergency calls

Preferred
  • Prior Security Management experience
  • Certifications in security administration or similar field
  • Military, law enforcement, or intelligence experience
